Wednesday morning link dump

A couple of things from around the Web.

First off, Jeremy Littau has a nice post on how social media is not a fad. His post comes as a partial reaction to this conference, which I wish I’d been able to attend. It’s the start of the semester for Vox magazine, and so my days have been pretty full (dis)orienting my new staff. I like this and I have to fully agree with it:

First, my pet peeve when I hear newspaper folks talk about social media is that they judge the trend by what it is now.

Secondly, a former Vox editor, Kim Reishus, tweeted this link this morning. Coming from the Journalistics blog, it’s an overview of 16 things you learn in J-school that are useful reminders for anyone who blogs, reports or otherwise writes about news.

And, last, I found this post by Mark Glaser to be fascinating. He’s “kicking” a print habit by reading news on his Kindle.

Hey, maybe he needs to subscribe to Steve Yelvington’s blog.
